Camp Pioneer Kids
Camp Pioneer Kids is a weekly Christ-centred club that helps children grow as whole persons, have fun and learn about Jesus. It is very similar to a vacation bible school program. Club members take part in games, singing, and skill-building activities or projects such as drama, games, cooking and craft making. In our bible explorations, the children learn about God's love, Christian values, and how to apply the Bible to everyday life.
This evening program runs from October through to April and has been running since 2008. It is run by Mrs. Elizabeth Schroth, Pastor Andy Schroth, Lindsay Neeb and Kristina Schroth, and many joyful volunteers. Camp Pioneer Kids welcomes children from Wellesley and area from preschool to grade six. The children include some members from our church, but a majority from the greater community. Children are welcome to bring 1 or 2 friends.
The club meets on Tuesdays from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. The program begins with an ‘ice breaker’ activity. We then sing some of our favourite songs, often ones from our Vacation Bible School. Pastor Andy then leads the older children in a bible lesson and the younger children go with their leaders. Pastor Andy often has skits for the older children on the text which they thoroughly enjoy. There is always a craft waiting after the lesson which symbolizing the bible teaching of that day. We conclude every gathering with the Lord’s prayer.
We do have a small yearly fee for each child to help offset the craft materials of about $50/child for the year. However there are discounts for families and we do what we can so that finances are not a hurdle. For more information, please email Elizabeth Schroth at: email@example.com .
